LINCOLN, Neb. (MADONNA)–Madonna patient Joey Bierman, who is recovering from a spinal cord injury, got a surprise from a group of nurses, nurse aides and a respiratory therapist Thursday. #JPBStrong #NowYouCan
With some secret planning, Madonna staff revealed a surprise show of support for 23-year-old Joey Bierman.
“Awweee, puppy!” he said.
Though a dog nearly stole the show, the group proudly wore their green shirts, a color that represents spinal cord injury awareness.
“That’s awesome you guys bought them behind my back!” said Joey.
Even Joey’s family was in on the surprise.
“Your mom knew. I told her,” said one of the nurses.
“She does keep secrets,” Joey replied.
“It was a big surprise. I’m very happy to see the love and support that I get from everybody,” he added.
The shirts also feature a message of faith on the back:
“I have faith that God is living out a divine plan through me. Have faith in God.” Mark 11:22
