Roughly three years ago, Drew Casper nearly lost his life in a car accident. The crash shattered Drew’s C1 vertebra, the small bone that connects the brain and spinal cord, an injury known as an internal decapitation. He also sustained a brain injury, brain bleed and several broken bones. Given a 15% chance of survival, Drew pulled through the dangerous surgery to reconnect his head and spinal cord. Later, he came to Madonna with limited mobility and he couldn’t talk. Through months of recovery at Madonna, Drew slowly regained his skills. Today, the young man is thriving as the manager of a Nothing Bundt Cake store in Topeka, Kansas, and is happy to be alive. Last year, Drew purchased his first home and hiked several mountains in Colorado.
