Growing up, Skylar McCaulley always wanted to become a doctor. With a job as a cardiac technician at Sanford USD Medical Center and a great MCAT score in hand, his dream seemed close to becoming a reality. Then, Skylar suddenly became a patient at the hospital where he worked after he experienced a ruptured arteriovenous malformation which later led to a stroke. Skylar came to Madonna unable to move or eat, but his care team soon saw his progress skyrocket. On his last day at Madonna, Skylar walked out the front doors. Since then, he has passed his driver’s test and returned to his job at Sanford USD Medical Center. His experience at Madonna has only strengthened his resolve to become a doctor. Skylar will soon be a college graduate with a degree in biology, and he has recently applied to medical school.
